Position Summary The Bilingual Family Services Worker, under the supervision of Director of Shelter Services and the Executive Director, will provide an on-site staff presence at SFTS' shelter program site.
The staffer will be an advocate, and case worker, providing role modeling of appropriate family interactions, small group session interactions, and family activities, as well as provide supportive services to clients in the shelter program.

Geographic Scope Coachella Valley Qualifications Bilingual, fluent in both English and Spanish Completion of the 40-hour Domestic Violence training as required by the State of California and the successful completion of an introductory period.
Ability to work with victims/survivors of domestic violence and their children, especially intimate partner domestic violence victims/survivors Knowledge of issues related to family violence, particularly wife/adult partner abuse, child abuse, and teen dating violence Childcare experiences a plus.
Committed to working toward the empowerment of victims of domestic violence.
Cultural sensitivity; ability to accept diverse personal and cultural behaviors.
Experience in crisis intervention and working with domestic violence victims preferred.
Must exhibit flexibility, mature judgment, confidence, and competence.
Ability to provide effective and reliable property management, ensure the safety and compliance of program clientele.
Able to communicate effectively with supervisors, staff, clients, and the community Excellent writing and communication skills.

Ability to role model non-judgmental and non-violent behavior in conflict resolution.
Computer literate, experience with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, Outlook).
Valid California Driver's license, a good driving record, current California vehicle registration, and current automobile insurance.
Desired Characteristics Skills & Abilities - Reliability and punctuality; ability to facilitate groups; ability to provide childcare for clients' children during counseling and case management appointments; strong verbal and written skills (English/Spanish); ability to multi-task.
Previous Experience - 2 years in human services/customer service and/or related experience; understanding of economic, cultural, and racial diversity in the Coachella valley; basic understanding of the legal system; basic understanding of grants and funding requirements; knowledge of domestic violence.
Personality Traits - Empathetic, good listener, ability to be calm in crisis situations, ability to implement healthy boundaries, sense of humor and can work independently as well as be an essential part of a dynamic team.
Essential Duties Be available to program clients, as needed, in the event of emergencies.
Notify supervisor of urgent program needs; client non-compliance; emergency(s); facility needs; and safety concerns.
Provide advocacy and crisis intervention as necessary.
Maintain accurate client records and agency statistics.
Attends staff meetings and in-service trainings as needed.
Performs additional duties as assigned by supervisor.
Supervisory Responsibilities None Education and/or Experience Bachelor's degree or equivalent from four-year college; or three-years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Physical Demands Lifting-Must be able to exert up to 25 pounds of force to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects.
Hearing - must be able to perceive the nature of sounds at normal speaking levels with or without correction.
Must be able to receive detailed information through oral communication and to make the discriminations in sound.
Communication - must be able to express or exchange ideas by means of the spoken word, in both English and Spanish.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
