Staff Audiologist (Advanced Practice Audiologist)

Duties are not limited to:
Build/expand vestibular and tinnitus services at a newly constructed CBOC to include but not limited to, make recommendations on equipment/supplies, input on space requirements/construction, developing and implementing evaluation and treatment protocols consistent with best practice. Participates in the development of professional and technical standards for the vestibular program. Serve as a facilitator in coordinating vestibular program initiatives and consensus building activities among clinical team members with differing backgrounds, interests, and points of view. Manage the progressive tinnitus management (PTM) program by coordinating group instruction, individualized instruction, and personalized tinnitus management with audiology and psychology staff. Contribute advanced knowledge in focus area and facilitate one-on-one personalized tinnitus treatment in form of comprehensive audiological evaluations as well as the selection and activation of tinnitus sound therapy maskers, hearing aids, and/or therapy sound streaming accessories; applying advances theories and techniques to this special patient population. Providing a full range of audiological services, including (but not limited to) the selection and fitting of hearing aids or other amplification devices, aural (auditory) rehabilitation, and counseling of hearing-impaired veterans and their families. Identifying and evaluating individuals with hearing disorders related to the reception and perception of speech, language and other acoustic signals for a full range of patient complexity, administering the full range of comprehensive audiologic tests, evaluating the type and degree of hearing loss for patients who may be unable to provide consistent and reliable reactions to diagnostics. Planning, delivering, and monitoring the effectiveness and clinical outcomes of patient-centered treatment and rehabilitative services for patients with significant physical and psychological complicating conditions, including (but not limited to) selecting and fitting of all types of hearing aids, programming digital hearing aids, issuing hearing protection devices for the prevention of acoustic trauma for individuals working in noisy environments, and selecting and fitting assistive devices and assistive listening devices such as personal and FM amplifiers, telephone amplifiers, radio or TV magnetic induction devices for special communication problems , and inspecting, modifying, and repairing amplification devices and ear molds. Remaining current with new developments in audiology via professional journals, continuing educational activities and professional learning experiences, and via communication with other professionals in the audiology field and other related professions. Master's degree or its equivalent in audiology or hearing science from an accredited college or university is required. Accredited means a college or university accredited by a regional accreditation organization and an audiology program recognized by the Accreditation Commission for Audiology Education (ACAE) and/or the Council on Academic Accreditation of the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA). The incumbent must hold a full, current, and unrestricted license in a State, Territory, Commonwealth, or the District of Columbia. English Language Proficiency:
Audiologists must be proficient in spoken and written English in accordance with chapter 2, section D, paragraph 5a, this part. Grade Determinations:
GS-13 - Staff Audiologist (Advanced Practice Audiologist) Education and Experience. Completion of 1 year of professional experience equivalent to the next lower grade level directly related to the position being filled, and must fully meet the KSAs at that level. In addition, the candidate must demonstrate the KSAs identified for the assignment demonstrate the potential to acquire the assignment specific KSAs as indicated by an asterisk ( ). Staff Audiologist (Advanced Practice Audiologist). This assignment is defined as the ability to provide independent and expert audiology services in a specialized area of practice. Examples include but are not limited to Traumatic Brain Injury, Polytrauma, etc. Audiologists at this grade level are advanced practice independent licensed practitioners and must demonstrate ability to apply advanced audiologic knowledge, theories, and techniques to a full range of complex patient populations. The advanced practice audiologist has an increased depth and breadth of practice skills; has expertise in participating in the professional development of colleagues through mentorship and teaching; demonstrates leadership in defining and attending to professional practice issues; and has the ability to expand the conceptual knowledge of the profession. Work involves audiology services requiring the exercise of mature professional judgment and the flexible use of a wide range of complex audiology practice skills not typically required in routine audiology practice. The advanced practice audiologist has mastered a range of specialized interventions and provides consultation to colleagues, renders professional opinions based on experience and expertise, and incorporates an advanced knowledge of scientific principles and contemporary practice in the differential diagnosis and treatment of auditory and vestibular disorders. The following Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities are required:
1. Advanced knowledge of anatomy, physiology, acoustics, applied acoustics, communication, psychoacoustics, and auditory and vestibular pathophysiology; 2. Advanced skill to perform and interpret diagnostic and electrophysiologic tests to a full range of patient populations; 3. Advanced skill to provide treatment interventions including analysis and fitting of advanced amplification technology and signal processing algorithms to a full range of patient populations; 4. Knowledge of embryology, genetics, pharmacology, ethics, compliance, and biostatistics; and 5. Advanced knowledge of, and ability to perform, functions associated with contemporary audiology scope of practice. References:

The incumbent work is moderately. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster.
